When Structec Directors Steve and Tracey Davies made a recent visit to the Knowsley Food Bank, they were inspired by the work carried out by the charity to improve the lives of others. The Big Help Project – which incorporates the Food Bank as well as other initiatives – aims to help people in Knowsley and its surrounding areas break free from poverty.
Moved by such a worthwhile cause, Steve and Tracey saw the Food Bank as an opportunity to give back to the community which provides Structec with much of its income. So, they asked the workforce to donate what they could in the period approaching Christmas, and were astonished at the charitable response.
The staff raised a sum of £458, which Structec agreed to match ‘pound-for-pound’, leading to a total of £916 being donated. In context, this donation will buy more than half a tonne of food; enough to feed more than 25 families of 5 or more people for 3 days.
This effort has been commended by Managing Director Steve Davies, as Structec looks for more ways in which it can aid those less fortunate in this community.
