Last year, Al’s Activity and Respite Centre was opened in Prescot, Knowsley by Debbie O’Brien and Andrea Evans. Both Debbie and Andrea are parents of adults with disabilities and complex health needs, and recognised the need for a safe space for such people and their families to come together as a community.
Structec contributed to the refurbishment and adaptation of the old NatWest Bank building in which Al’s ARC is now based before its opening, and now we are delighted to announce that our Operations Manager, John Maddox, will continue to support this fantastic facility as an appointed Trustee.
The project has been an astounding success, benefitting many young adults in developing their skills, independence and confidence. Even in spite of the lockdown, the inspirational team at the ARC – Al’s Angels – have been providing community services such as supporting families as personal shoppers, delivering food parcels to families in need, collecting and delivering prescriptions and raising money to support the vulnerable.
John Maddox commented:
“We at Structec have been astounded at the generosity and selflessness of the team at Al’s ARC. Their commitment to supporting the community is inspiring, and we are delighted to be able to play a part in improving the lives of vulnerable people.”
