Geoff Davies, the Quality and Performance Manager at Structec was himself “rocking and rolling” after his 26 mile marathon run on Sunday the 25 May. Geoff was pleased with the time of 3 hours 44 minutes after many weeks of gruelling training to prepare for the inaugural Liverpool Rock and Roll Marathon.
The first few steps over the finishing line may have been a bit of a struggle. Geoff recalls that:
“I did get my strategy wrong I went out far too fast above my training pace in the first 13 miles and I paid for all that early enthusiasm in the final miles!”
Geoff is proudly seen at the finishing line displaying his medal and broad smile that hides his tiredness.
Every year 500,000 people around the world participate in Rock and Roll Marathons that blend running with live music. Originating in the USA, with marathons in Las Vegas, Washington and New Orleans and in Europe with Dublin and Nice and many other cities worldwide.
Geoff is undaunted by his 26 mile run through Liverpool and will now compete in the Mersey Tunnel 10K through the Kingsway Tunnel to New Brighton on Sunday June 8th. Geoff is ready to enter the 2015 Liverpool Rock and Roll Marathon and this time he will start off a bit slower!
Structec nominated Parkinson’s UK as their chosen charity for this event.
