The company, workforce and supply chain support Colin Hitchmough and his National Three Peak 24 Hour Challenge to raise monies for specialist physio-therapy treatment.
As soon as Steve Davies, the MD of Structec, learnt of the fund raising efforts of Colin Hitchmough (Director of TC Scaffolding) for his sister Linda, he knew that the company could help in some way. Linda had suffered a catastrophic stroke in October 2011 at the young age of 42 and was left in a state of Locked -in Syndrome.
Colin has fund raised tirelessly since 2011 to raise money to improve the quality of life by purchasing eye gaze computer communication systems. This technology had helped release Linda from her life trapped inside a body she cannot use, and more specialist physiotherapy support was now required.
Steve asked his workforce and Structec Sub-Contractors to support Colin and his Three Peak Challenge to climb 26 miles of ascents and descents within a 24 hour target. These Three Peaks in Scotland, England and Wales had to be climbed on the 10th April 2013, when snow and high winds were still on the mountains.
Not unexpectedly, the workforce and Sub-Contractors were generous with their contributions and the company matched all the monies donated on a “pound for pound” basis.
Structec donated a cheque of £1,786 to the Linda Hitchmough, Fund Raising Campaign and the Three Peak Climb by Colin. In total, Colin raised £6136 for vital physiotherapy and equipment for Linda which has made an invaluable contribution to the quality of her life.
