The ‘Structec Mudders’ team of 23 recently took on the Tough Mudder 5k challenge in what proved to be a gruelling but hugely enjoyable day. The challenge consisted of 5 kilometres of mud and obstacles, all of which required a great amount of teamwork and individual endurance.
Motivating the team of Structec colleagues and associates was the cause for which they attempted the challenge, the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). CALM is a leading movement which provides a range of services, including a free and anonymous helpline for those struggling with their mental health, with the specific aim of preventing suicide.
The event and fundraising efforts were organised by one of Structec’s longest serving operatives, Mark Johnson. Mark and the rest of the team thought CALM would be an incredibly worthwhile cause, in light of recent tragic events within the Structec team.
Mark commented: ‘the day was a huge success and everyone would agree we had a great time. Thank you to those who came and contributed. Safe to say we are all looking forward to next year’s challenge.’
The team was overwhelmed by the level of support shown, which far surpassed any expectations. A grand total in excess of £3,300 was raised through the JustGiving fundraiser page, sponsorship forms and direct contributions by various Structec Supply Partners. We would like to give enormous thanks to all those who donated.
Steve Davies, Managing Director, extended these thanks:
"I am delighted to have taken part in raising such an impressive amount of money for such an important cause. We are so grateful to everybody involved, and I’d like to especially thank Mark Johnson, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible."
