This week, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming Ben, a Year 10 student, to Structec for his work experience—and what a week it’s been!
Ben approached every task with enthusiasm, curiosity, and professionalism, making the most of every opportunity to learn. He explored with our Managers a wide variety of roles within our business, including:
🔹 Visiting disabled adaptations currently in progress
🔹 Lending a hand on-site, including stripping wallpaper
🔹 Learning about our strong commitment to recycling and sustainability
🔹 Gaining experience in administration
🔹 Walking off completed jobs and understanding the importance of quality assurance
🔹 And even contributing to our daily “Thought for the Day” in the office – which will now become a tradition that brings reflection and further positivity to our mornings!

Ben quickly became part of the team, mixing confidently with staff and taking a genuine interest in how different parts of the company operate. By the end of the week, he told us he hadn’t realised just how many diverse roles exist within a building and maintenance company—and that he felt truly welcomed at Structec.
At Structec, we believe that bringing young people into the workplace is a powerful way to add value to our school communities. For many students, work experience is their first real insight into the working world, and we’re proud to offer a supportive, hands-on environment that helps them form informed opinions about their futures.
Thank you, Ben—you’ve been a fantastic addition to the team, and we wish you all the best as you consider your future after GCSEs and A-Levels!
